Black Angel’s Bar and its menu have been created based on the preserved notes and sketches of the early 20th century bartending legend, Alois Krcha. These were discovered during the reconstruction of the building originally named "U Černého Anděla". The bar was built in the 1930´s style of the so-called “public house”, where people from all walks of life used to meet their friends and acquaintances to lift their spirits with a glass of good drink after a hard day’s work. At that time, alcohol was completely and incomprehensibly forbidden!

For this reason, Black Angel’s Bar is situated in the Gothic cellar of the U Prince Hotel (formally “U Černého Anděla”) in Prague Old Town Square.

The original Romanesque and Gothic stone masonry, which evokes the atmosphere of a clandestine place for “getting together”, immerses the customer in a black and white movie like atmosphere, a time when the names of the cocktails actually had a meaning.

Black Angel’s Bar is the project of the manager Pavel “Pavka” Šíma, who was entrusted with the reconstruction of one of the hotel’s floors in mid-2009. The emergence of the new company’s flagship was sponsored by the external consultant Zdeněk Kaštánek, the co-owner of the world-renowned 28 Hong Kong Street Bar in Singapore.

Since its launch, Black Angel’s Bar has joined the ranks of the world’s top bars. This is evidenced by its annual placement among the Top 10 Best Hotel Bars in the World in the “Tales of the Cocktail" competition, the most prestigious bar contest often likened to the “Oscars”, and held in New Orleans.

4worldlovers: It's the year 1605, Guy Fawkes, the masked conspirator, is just about to ignite all the gunpowder barrels under the Palace of Westminster. This laid the first of our souls.

The Gunpowder Plot has, however, failed. The job had to be finished 392 year later by the man called only ”V”, as known in our 2nd soul, the comic books V for Vendetta.

The 3rd soul is attributed to the AnonymouS movement, which carries on with the tradition of our mask, in their fight of tyranny and uncovering the hidden truths of the present day.

During the reconstruction of the house at Provaznická Street, we found an old chest under a loose plank on the second floor. At the bottom of the chest, there was a pack of tarot cards covered in dust. From the underside, one could see the shaken writings done by the hand of the old Alchemist. The burden bonded with the secret of the old emperor caused him much suffering so he decided to get rid of it. However, he knew very well that it was too much for one person to bear so he inflicted the curse onto 26 heads, sharing the secret among 26 characters of the old tarot cards.


To this day, we still haven't solved the whole secret and that’s why we would like to ask you for help. The youngest offspring of the Alchemist hereby offers you a hundred thousand Czech crowns if you crack the secret that the emperor used to hold so dear. Announced by rhythmical sounds of horse hoofs, guests in black cowls arrive at the Prague Castle. Startled ravens scramble and disperse into the blackness of dark clouds. Only one of them deliberately chooses one of the riders and sits on his shoulder. Rudolf II., the head of the Roman Empire, ends up noticing it and shows a hint of smile. His search has reached its end. He has found the Alchemist.


The alchemist had settled down in the house at Provaznická Street and began to create cocktails. He would mix such delicious drinks that even the Emperor himself had forgotten about the elixir of youth because the idea of leaving the world in the caress of Alchemist's liquor was too tempting. Just prior to his death, the Alchemist had hidden the greatest secret in the world, which he had wheedled from the withered emperor earlier, and sworn that those words are to never see the light of day again.


Even to his offspring had the Alchemist told about the secret only as much as was fit for them to hide at the bottom of each drink they would serve to their customers. This way, their drinks would become unforgettable.


The Alchemist’s offspring knew that anyone to have tasted more than ten drinks becomes capable of reading the whole secret in his heart, yet his mind would be so enthralled by the drink's sweetness he would not be able to remember. They think that this keeps the secret safe. Try your luck and taste the mysterious cocktails at the same place the old Alchemist lived. We are looking forward to meet you.

I was here 5 years ago and Prague was cheap, no longer, prices are similar to those in the UK.Especially food, a pint of local beer at roughly £4 and upwards.

We had the best time here. We visited during the day for food and was so nice. We decided to return for the band and so glad we did. They were just amazing. We had so much fun! Would 100% recommend here.

In Prague over the Christmas period and with the snow falling heavily my twin brother Stephen and I dropped into The Dubliner Irish Bar ,been here many times over the years ,always had a great time and so it proved on our latest visit.I love the look of this bar ,it's quite a big ,multi roomed bar ,a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room,pubby decor and furnishings ,sports memorabilia adorns the walls,pool tables and big screens to enjoy the sport plus lots of seating options ,it's a great bar to chill out in.We were here on a bitterly cold December night ,this bar was absolutely packed ,standing room only ,we ordered and were served pints of guinness ,these were poured in the correct manner even allowing time for the all important settle ,we chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular bar.My guinness was really good ,a thick ,creamy and most importantly iced cold guinness and bursting with taste ,it was just so good being in such a great bar enjoying a quality guinness.We both really enjoyed our guinness in here and the great vibe so much so that we ended up staying for another guinness each before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a marvellous time.The Dubliner Irish Bar is easy to locate on Tyn,just off Old Town Square ( Staromestske Namesti ) Opening hours are;Monday to Thursday,9am till 2 am.Friday to Sunday,9am till 3am.A wonderful pub in a great location and well worth checking out if you're in the area.
